About
This website was set up as an online depository for some of my teaching and learning resources. It is also a place to reflect on building and leading a brand new Geography department.
Why the name 'Geography Burp'...? I'm a fan of Harry Hill's TV Burp, a British television comedy programme that aired from 2001 to 2012. The show presented a look at the week's television, often with added sketches and observational voice-overs.
In my classroom, Geography Burp is a twist on TV Burp. Pupils use Flip video cameras to record their learning. This is typically making models of favelas, cities, or coasts, etc. I put the heavily-edited highlights together, then next lesson I put on a Harry Hill mask and present Geography Burp. It is often a highlight of the year for many of my classes at Key Stage 3 and remains a talking point for many years. As well as being educational, it is great fun!
Geography Burp, the website, is the online version of teaching and learning in my classroom. The edited highlights, if you will.
